Thank you for visiting this consultation website.

Here you’ll find out information about our draft ID Manchester Strategic Regeneration Framework, which outlines our vision to create a world-class innovation district on The University of Manchester’s former North Campus in central Manchester.

The project is being brought forward by a joint venture between The University of Manchester and Bruntwood SciTech, working in close collaboration with Manchester City Council.

About ID Manchester

Our vision is for ID Manchester to be recognised internationally as one of the world’s leading applied innovation districts.

Home to the UK’s most exciting new ideas and disruptive technologies, its core specialisms will be centred around advanced materials, health innovation, digital technology and biotech.

Located in the heart of the city, next to Piccadilly Railway Station, the completed development will create over 10,000 new jobs and deliver education, apprenticeship and training opportunities for local communities.

The Square

The illustrative masterplan totals over 4 million sq ft, including offices and innovation space, homes, retail, leisure and local amenities. It will breathe new life into existing buildings, such as the Sackville Street and Renold buildings, enhance Vimto Park and create fantastic new public spaces that connect communities with nature, improving urban biodiversity and revitalising this part of the city centre.

The Strategic Regeneration Framework

Produced in collaboration with a world-class design team, the draft Strategic Regeneration Framework (SRF) defines our vision for the project and guiding principles that will inform future development proposals.

On 28 June 2023, Manchester City Council’s Executive Committee approved the draft SRF for public consultation and we are now inviting the local community and stakeholders to share their views and feedback on the proposed development plans. This consultation will run between 14th July and 8th September.

This SRF consultation will be the first of many related to ID Manchester, with detailed plans for specific buildings and spaces being subject to further consultations when applications for planning permission are submitted.
